Turing Space and Amphico develop textile passport prototype ahead of EU transparency rules

2026/04/01

LONDON, April 1 – Turing Europe, Global TrustTech firm Turing Space and London-based deep-tech textile company Amphico have developed a prototype Digital Product Passport (DPP), demonstrated using Amphico’s Amphicolor™ technology. The pilot shows how manufacturers can prepare for evolving European requirements on product transparency, sustainability disclosure, and traceability.

The joint project comes as companies across global supply chains face growing pressure to prove where products come from, how they are made and whether sustainability claims can be verified. The partners said their prototype shows how digital product passports can combine verifiable credentials and blockchain-based infrastructure to create a more trusted record of a product’s origin, production journey, and sustainability-related data.

The move reflects rising industry interest in digital systems that can support compliance with the European Union’s evolving circular economy agenda, under which digital product passports are expected to become an increasingly important tool for sharing standardised information on products placed on the market.

Turing Space said the collaboration marks an early demonstration of how trusted digital infrastructure can be used in a live industrial context rather than remaining a purely regulatory or technical concept. Amphico, which develops technologies that unlock performance and colour without hidden toxic chemistries, said the project also highlights the need for more credible and interoperable data across textile supply chains.

The prototype was designed to demonstrate how verified product information can travel with textile goods across different stakeholders, making it easier for manufacturers, brands and, ultimately, regulators and consumers to access consistent data about sourcing, production, and sustainability performance.

The pilot provided insight into how digital product passport systems could evolve beyond basic traceability to include broader information such as material sourcing, recyclability, carbon footprint and product composition.

For textile manufacturers operating across Asian and European markets, the project offers an early indication of how compliance, sustainability reporting, and supply chain digitisation are beginning to converge.
